IVA - Insolvency Register

The Insolvency Register holds the details of all IVA and bankruptcy orders passed in the UK. Details about the register can be found at the Government Insolvency Service website.

Details Held on the IVA Insolvency Register:

The Insolvency register contains details of:

  • Bankruptcy cases - Both current and the ones that have been completed in the last three months.
  • IVA cases - current details on IVA agreements.
  • BRO (Bankruptcy Restriction Order) - Current bankruptcy restrictions orders and undertaking.

Although an IVA is a private agreement between the debtor and their creditor, one of the IVA conditions is that their details will be listed with the Insolvency Services. Unlike bankruptcy, no details will be published in the local or national newspapers.

Insolvency details can be searched online at the Insolvency website or at the Official Receiver’s office.

For more information about how the details of your IVA or Bankruptcy are used, please contact One Advice free on 0800 019 5870.

Entering into an IVA may adversely affect your credit rating for up to six years from the date of approval.

Your property will be protected within an IVA but you may be required to release all or part of any equity during the period of the arrangement.

Failure to complete the term of an IVA can result in bankruptcy.

(In Scotland, a PTD is the equivalent to an IVA.)
