Across the Group, there are lots of opportunities to be involved in voluntary work, fund-raising and charity events, both local and national, organised by Culture Club, the colleague committee. The Group are currently the third largest employer in our parliamentary ward (Wythenshawe and Sale East) and make a major contribution to the local economy and community. It’s the right thing to do to give back to our local community and budding enterprises.

Colleague Committee – Culture Club

Colleagues taking part in Gung Ho for The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

We value our people so that’s why Culture Club was created. The committee represents the needs and views of colleagues and exists to make sure the working environment and culture of the Group is positive and supportive.

Representatives are elected from the different businesses and departments throughout the Group, who are responsible for communicating the needs and views of employees. Also acting as ambassadors, they are a key point of liaison and organise events, activities and fund raising activities, such as the Summer BBQ, the Comedy Night, football competitions and the Grand Christmas Ball. Culture Club are allocated money from a central fund every month to pursue their chosen activities and initiatives.

Culture Club is the key component to the Group’s fundraising activities, and each year colleagues vote to support a charity of their choice.

Since September 2014 colleagues have raised over £30,000, given almost £20,000 in time and experience and have interacted with over 350 students to deliver Financial Education for Future Generations.

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust – One Advice Group Charity of the Year

Staff voted unanimously to support The Christie as the One Advice Group Charity of the Year for 2016/17. The charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Gifts from businesses make a huge difference to the care and treatment that The Christie is able to provide to their patients and the families. We count ourselves as supporters and enthusiasts, willing to help fund raise for their life-changing and potentially life-saving projects.

  • Christie’s are one of the largest hospital charities in the UK with 82p in every pound going directly to the patients.
  • They have over 43,500 supporters and in 2015 raised £15.8m.

The Christie has various events scheduled throughout the year to raise money, which colleagues have the opportunity to take part in. Furthermore, we will be co-ordinating internal activities to help fund raise for the charity.
