We value our people and recognise that they are very important to the success of the Group and to delivering the right solutions for customers.
Their expertise, experience, ideas and motivation are vital, so when it comes to recruitment we look for talented individuals who want to make a positive contribution; who also want to develop their potential and are genuinely interested in working in a team culture that cares.
From day one our people are given the opportunity to take on real responsibility and independent leadership, receiving regular training, monitoring, support and the guidance to succeed.
In return, companies in the Group offer a wide range of benefits and a programme of Continuous Personal Development (CPD) with scope for training and opportunities to be involved in Group and community wide initiatives. The Group promotes equal opportunities for all colleagues.
What makes you stay at Harrington Brooks?
Harrington Brooks are one of the largest debt management companies in the UK, so you want to work for the best. There have been times in the past when I could have gone to other companies but I always decide to stay because being at Harrington Brooks presents great growth opportunities.
Advisory Support Team Manager
What has kept you at Harrington Brooks?
I was a bit unsure about the debt management industry at first, even my mum said “are you sure you want to talk to people about their debt issues all day?”, but actually I love knowing I’ve helped people, especially when clients insist on speaking with you because they know you get things sorted for them from start to finish.
Creditor Relationship Manager
What kind of person is best suited to your role?
I’d say quite charismatic, persuasive and very organised – happy getting on the phone and dealing with creditor queries so that the process works well for our customers.
At the One Advice Group we are proud to say that we develop lots of talents from within. We do this by:
- “Celebrating Success” – we share and showcase comments and feedback which customers give regarding our people every day.
- The intranet also runs a “Spotlight” feature every month, enabling colleagues across all the Group to read about, learn and understand the different roles, responsibilities and accountabilities certain teams and people have. The aim is to increase awareness, and an appreciation of the ethos that we all must work together to secure the success of the Group and deliver excellent solutions and services for customers.
- Promoting an “Enterprise Scheme” for managers to nominate future leaders who want to fast track their career and training needs, so that they can become a leader or manager of the future.
- Providing 3 hours CPD time and learning opportunities every month, be it essential regulatory training, professional training or working towards qualifications such as Cert DR.
- Funding a range of different courses and professional training.
“It’s really beginning to help increase the profile of certain key roles by attracting attention and appreciation plus our colleagues seem to see how the jigsaw fits together more.” – Head of Training and Development
On arrival, all new recruits go through a comprehensive induction programme and range of tests, which also helps to introduce them to other new people, the role of each department and existing colleagues. Throughout week one, our new team members are made aware of the customer centric ethos of the company and important values such as Integrity and Pride.
After receiving this grounding and a comprehensive induction, training and competency manual, the Group delivers one to one and group training sessions which prepare them for life in their individual departments and roles. The next stage is to move in to one of the relevant academies. Several exist so that role specific training, compliance and competency can be imparted, tested and monitored. Academy graduations involve pizza and are celebrated company wide.
On-going effective monitoring, coaching and performance improvement sessions also happen throughout the Group.
