Debt Statistics

Today Alone:

  • 292 people will be declared insolvent/bankrupt.
  • 7,716 loan payments will be unpaid.
  • 74 homes will be repossessed.
  • £257,000,000 will be paid in interest.
  • An extra £309,000,000 will be borrowed.
  • £12.42 increase in debt for the average household.
  • 2,750 CCJs will be issued.
  • £526,000,000 will be withdrawn from cash machines.
  • 24,500,000 transactions worth £1,400,000,000 will be spent on cards, such as credit cards, debt cards and store cards.

Further Debt Statistics:

  • Secured lending on homes stands at approximately £1,200 billion.
  • Total unsecured debt stands at approximately £1,430 billion.
  • Average adult owes £30,120 including mortgages.
  • Household debt is £57,420 including mortgages.
  • Average household debt is £9,216 excluding mortgages.
    This increases to £21,433 if the average number of households have a form of unsecured loan
  • Interest repayments have soared to £93.8 billion in the last 12 months.

Britain’s personal debt is increasing by ~ £1 million every 5 minutes.
